Week 18

This was a much shorter week. I spent most of it working on my website. On Monday I put in my final efforts on making a site on Hugo. I failed and went back to wordpress.

I changed themes a couple times and found one that I really liked. I then looked through all the customization options and found a ton more than I thought existed. These options allowed me to make every change I wanted with my site.

I started by trying to use the custom HTML feature to create my own posts section. This wasn’t working in any why I tried. Then in a fit of rage I realized that the categories could make the exact page I have wanted for the past month. So I made that page.

This made me go through each post I had made and add a cover image and set the categories. This was tedious but it didn’t take too long. I then converted my desk page into a post.

After doing this I changed a ton of customization options to make the website do everything I wanted.

Finally I re-made the first part of my home page. I intend to expand on this page to add a skills section that expands into another page.

At some point during the week I communicated with the robotics team on when we should meet with the professionals.

On Thursday I worked with Miles to figure out the power system for Bob ROV. We worked with AI and my father to decide on 600 volt DC power transmitted over 16 or 18 gauge wire. We needed 1000 watts to have enough power for possible sonar upgrades and tool packages. To generate the power on a boat, we realized that we needed a generator as batteries are far to expensive for the operation times we want. then we found a step up converter and a power supply to increase the 240 volt power from the generator to 600 volts and then back down to 20.

We then made an AQUA-sition page for BOB ROV. I put in all my information on steel, windows, and O-rings. Miles and I then added possible craigslist generators to the list.
