Blog week 30

This week was very short due to snow. There was a lot of snow. There was like 2 feet of snow on the ground. This snow made me very tired. And it was very cold outside so I had to work inside.

At the start of the week, which was Wednesday, I texted Martin Luther Culpepper to follow up about checking the design. I heard from my father that he is currently very busy and sick. So I don’t expect to hear back from him immediately.

I also realized that the penetrator model that I had imported was not a solid so I spent 2 hours perfectly re-creating the model. I then had to re-do all the buoyancy calculations with the new weight distribution. This threw everything off and I need to adjust a bunch of stuff.

I also found the exact specs of the DC to DC power converter onboard the ROV. I found the weight to be 1.3 to 1.6 kg. I then used this to mock up a design for the internal frame. It was about 1 kg. I then used these values to approximate the mass inside of the ROV electronics enclosure to be 3 kg.

I also worked with Miles to deconstruct one of the battery cells for the golf cart. We clamped and squeezed and cut it and found that it was cooked. Although the depth we can drill is a lot larger than we thought.

Finally to improve my working efficiency I set up a third monitor, that Jonas had not used for the past few months. I then put away all the stuff on my desk except for the old ROV mock ups and the hat spinner.
