Blog week 26

This was a very short week for me. I was sick out on Monday and Tuesday with the flu, so I apologize if this post is very short.

On Wednesday I worked a little bit on the Prusa Mk3s. I took the textured printer bed and cleaned it. I used soap and water and another classified substance that Mr. L doesn’t like me cleaning printer beds with (ethanol).

I also wiped down the guide rods and the surfaces because they were dusty.

Aaron stopped by the shop on Wednesday. I spent a large part of my day showing Aaron the projects that people were doing in the shop. We also showed him the progress on the golf cart. He gave us the feedback that we should re-install the handbrake.

I then got Aaron’s feedback on the new ROV and we talked about galvanic corrosion on JONA.

On the design side of things, I added the zinc anodes to the design. These are used to prevent galvanic corrosion. I then added the hardware to the design and added more clearance in the flotation.

Last week I added the hardware to adapt a kelums grip to the frame of the ROV. I also slightly reduced the thickness of the tube (0.4 –> ~0.35)in.

On Thursday I did buoyancy calculations to figure out the balance of the ROV. I calculated center of mass and center of buoyancy independently. I then calculated the total required buoyancy material which by a Christmas miracle was half as much as I last calculated it. I re-did the calculations several times and it checked out. I have done a few weight optimizations since the last time I did the calculations. Those must have improved it dramatically.
