Over break I made this awesome diorama for english class. Look at how cool it is. It is cool.
I also met with the incredible Professor Martin Culpepper. He approved the design and said that it was very good. According to those that know him, this was very high praise from him. He suggested to add more bolts to the connection between the frame and the tube. He also suggested to add a custom washer there to prevent the bolts from marring the surface which would have worn and loosened over time.
To manufacture the tube I need a steady rest to stabilize the tube while manufacturing it.
our steady rest and metal fabs were too small and they cost over $1000 at this size so I have to make one. I took a scrap piece of aluminum and a piece of steel to interface with the lathe bed.
I am working with ben and adam to machine it. They are currently machining the roller arms for the steady rest while I finalize the design for the mounting and adjustment systems.
